Keri Ann Carter, 22 of Stuarts Draft, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, September 17, 2013

Born February 13, 1991 in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of Michael and Kimberly Sours of Stuarts Draft and James Carter and Betty Herb of Staunton.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, William “Porter” Jones, her paternal grandparents, Joyce Ann Carter and Joseph Lee Carter, and a cousin Nathaniel David Sours.

Keri was a 2009 graduate of Stuarts Draft High School and a recent volunteer at Shenandoah Valley Animal Services Center.  She was a free spirited person who loved spending time with family, hiking, the outdoors, arts & crafts, especially tie dye, music, concerts and dancing.

In addition to her parents, Keri is survived by her sisters, Sara McHaffa and husband Evan of Stuarts Draft; Jessica Sours and boyfriend Tyler Meadows of Waynesboro; and Latasha Carter of Richmond; her maternal grandmother, Rena Jones of Stuarts Draft; grandparents, Gordon and Peggy Sours of Lyndhurst; aunts and uncles, Belinda Jones of Waynesboro, Karen and Donald Shifflett of Crimora, Barbara Hoy of Waynesboro, Rusty and Tammy Sours of Lyndhurst, David and Teresa Sours of Lyndhurst; Steven Sours of Stuarts Draft, Susie and Steve Hall of Stuarts Draft, Jarrell and Kay Carter of Deerfield, Joanne and Bobbie Cousins of Deerfield, Justin and Melinda Carter of Deerfield, Malisa and Lou Lacy of Madison, Denise and Donnie Slawson of Deerfield, Laura and Michael Woolridge of Deerfield, Jessica Carter of Staunton,  nieces and nephews, Kali and Liam McHaffa and Jaque Carter-Smith; numerous cousins; and a very special lifelong friend Robert Coyner.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 22, 2013 at Wayne Hills Baptist Church, 877 Ladd Road, Waynesboro, VA with Reverend Danny Campbell officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, September 21, 2013 at Charlton and Groome Funeral Home, 961 Goose Creek Road, Fishersville, VA 22939.

The family would like to say a special thanks to the Stuarts Draft Rescue Squad and the Augusta County Sheriff’s Department.

Keri was loved by many, missed by all.
