Hansford Lee Helmick, 75 of Waynesboro, VA passed away Thursday, November 12, 2015 in Charlottesville, VA.

He was born September 23, 1940 in Greenville, VA, the son of the late Ernest Lee Helmick and Mary Edith Fretwell Helmick.

Hansford was a mechanic with J&D’s Auto Center.

He is survived by his two children, Mary Snow and husband, Michael of Boonesville, VA and Jesse Helmick of Waynesboro, VA; a step-daughter, Sandy Allen of Staunton, VA, three brothers, Kenneth Helmick of Brownsburg, VA, Arvin Helmick and Waldo Helmick both of Harrisonburg, VA, a special friend Diane Lucas of Waynesboro; three grandchildren, Eric Eavey, Kevin Eavey and Autumn Eavey and three step-grandchildren, Mandy and Brandon Snow of Crozet and Mallory Cook of Staunton.

A memorial gathering will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, November 15, 2015 at Charlton and Groome Funeral Home, 619 Lifecore Drive, Fishersville, VA 22939
