Michael Terry Frenger, 64, of Verona, passed away Tuesday evening, November 21, 2017 at his home. He was born March 4, 1953 in Staunton, son of the late Bruce Willard Frenger, Jr. and Nancy Joan Hamilton Frenger.
Michael retired in 2015, as a Supervisor with the Virginia Department of Transportation after 38 years of service. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Waynesboro. A U. S. Air Force veteran of the Viet Nam Era, he served from 1971-1976.
He enjoyed being with his family, especially during the holidays, helping his neighbors, walking his grand-dog, and spending time with his cats. He was a true nature lover. He looked forward to riding motorcycles and taking his MG to car shows and was the “Grillmaster” at family cookouts. His green thumb could be seen around his yard.
Survivors include his wife, Vicki Showalter Frenger; his daughter Elizabeth Rose “Lizzy” Frenger and her fiancé, James O’Connor; his son, Matthew Todd “Matt” Frenger; his four siblings, Bruce “Benny” Frenger, Deborah Branstetter, Steven “Steve” Frenger and Gregory “Greg” Frenger and his wife, Barbara, and a number of nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Zion Lutheran Church, 297 Zion Church Road, Waynesboro, conducted by Pastor James Pence and Pastor Peter Olsen. The family will receive friends following the Memorial Service at the church and at other times at the family home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in his memory to the Shenandoah Valley Animal Services Center, 1001 Mt. Torry Road, Lyndhurst, VA 22952.
