Roger will be missed at every football game and every class reunion. I always looked forward to seeing Roger and his reminders of our years playing football together. Many of us remember him by the nickname 'Hamburger', because no one could eat like Roger. You will be missed good friend but the Lord has you now so all is good.

Roger always had a big smile on his face and always greeted you with is deep, resonating voice. I enjoyed talking with Roger whenever we would meet. Roger always took the time to speak and was a joy. I am positive that he is now in the presence of our Lord and savior! Roger will be missed here on earth, but, we will meet again and be able to rejoice together again! May your voyage be blessed!! God bless you and your family, and a special hello to Angie!

Roger was a good friend of mine and I'll miss him dearly. He taught me to stay the course and not stray from the straight and narrow. He knew more about WW II history than anyone I have ever met. I'm not going to be able to attend any of the services due to some health issues of my own. May the God of Peace and Love dwell within you and yours.

Message from Paul Massie, VDOC Cpt. (Ret)

At times like this; there are few -- if any -- words that can be said to comfort those left behind; even so, I would like to muster a feeble attempt to convey to his family and friends the immense shock and sadness that I feel in learning of Roger's passing. It's been almost 9 years since we last worked together but it only seems like yesterday and my memories of him are still fresh. Roger was a gentleman in every sense of the word and he was a man of faith; a faith that he would profess to anyone, anywhere at anytime. He held a candle and did not hide its light. Roger possessed great integrity, courage, initiative, competence, professionalism and all of the other traits that make a good citizen and a fantastic employee; the kind that you hope others would emulate. As I have done while he was living, I do now in his passing; offer my most profound respect and appreciation for the legacy that he leaves. He has positively touched the lives of so many and he will surely continue to be remembered by all so touched. Go with God, my brother....and rest in peace. Your work on Earth is done.
