Joseph Edwin Savoy, recently of Stuarts Draft, Virginia, went home to God December 2, 2017. He was born March 20, 1926 and raised in Bangor, Maine, the son of the late Joseph T. and Mabel Savoy. He was a US Army WWII veteran, serving in the artillery in the European theatre of operations. Following graduation from the University of Maine with a Civil Engineering degree in 1950, he married Beverlee June Greene Savoy. They lived for many years in Wilmington, Delaware, where he worked for over 30 years as a design engineer for DuPont. As an active member of the Second Baptist Church, he spent many years teaching Sunday school and providing leadership to the junior high and senior high fellowships. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Beverlee, and is survived by their children, Kevin and his wife, Victoria of Sandy Hook, Virginia, and Gregory of Hedgesville, West Virginia; a granddaughter and her husband, Rachel and Cory Caldwell of Charlottesville, Virginia, and a grandson, Dale Savoy of Blacksburg, Virginia. He is also survived by a sister, Rita Allen of Norman, Oklahoma, a sister-in-law and her husband, Constance and Robert McCann of Lady Lake, Florida, a brother-in-law, Patrick Dawson of Bath, Maine, and numerous nieces and nephews. A service will be held in Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Stuarts Draft Rescue Squad, 10 Manor Road, Stuarts Draft, Virginia 24477.
