Helen Lee Strickler-Fitzgerald, 88 of Waynesboro, went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 12, 2016 in Fishersville.
She was born on February 22, 1928 in Augusta Co., VA to the late
Frank O. Strickler and the late Lillian L. Baker Strickler.
She known as the “Potato Salad Lady” and “Band Mom”. She was employed at Haney’s Pharmacy for 53 years and at Zeh Heating and Plumbing. She loved listening to music and being with people. She was the last surviving family member.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Winfred Hause Fitzgerald: brothers and sisters, Lillian A. Camden, Millard Strickler, Margaret Humphries, Lattinia Humphries, Nettie Mae Hughes and Frances Baker.
She is survived by a beloved daughter, Roxie F. Beverly and her husband, Frankie and a step-son, Winfred “Sonny” Fitzgerald and his wife, Virginia; numerous nieces, nephews and her special friends, Barbara McGuire, Mildred Snyder, Cindy Polaro, Finley and many other loving friends. .
The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Friday, September 16, 2016 at Charlton and Groome Funeral Home, 619 Lifecore Drive, Fishersville, VA 22939 and where a funeral service will be held 11:00am in the chapel on Saturday, September 17, 2016. Interment to follow at Riverview Cemetery.
