Frances Louise Via (Cline) Kirk, 86, of Waynesboro passed away on Monday, January 9, 2017 at the Shenandoah Nursing Home and Rehab following a long illness, and is now in the arms of our Savior.  Louise was born in Augusta County on July 19, 1930 to her late parents, Burl Tandy and Emma Jane (Wright) Via.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant son, Timothy Cline; sister, Betty Jane Via; brother, Burl James Via; as well as her (late) second husband, Claude Kirk (divorced) and The Reverend Fred Cline, the father of her two children.

She is survived by her son, Daniel Milton Cline, (wife, Willow van den Hoek); grandson, Caleb van Docto (wife, Mia); and granddaughter, Laurel van den Cline (husband, Christopher Hampton), all of whom reside in California.  Louise is also survived by her brother, Theron W. Via (wife, Patricia) of Fishersville; sister, Violet Via Cash (husband, Earl David) of Waynesboro; step-son, Tom Kirk (wife, Della) of Kentucky; niece Debbie Cale (husband, Rob) of Fishersville; nephews, David Via (wife, Donna) of Crozet; Ivan Via (wife, Susannah) of Fishersville; and Dennis Coffey (wife, Victoria) of Waynesboro; and several great-nephews, nieces and cousins.

Louise lived life to the fullest, having resided throughout the United States and in her travels through Europe.  She cherished time with her many friends and family.  Louise was blessed with the gift of interior design and artfully expressed this gift through the ways she decorated her homes.  In 1984, she returned to her hometown where she re-established contacts with old friends and made many new ones.

Between 1998-2000, Louise was a member and President of the Waynesboro Woman’s Club, GFWC, as well as, a member of the Nolen Heights Garden Club.  She enjoyed working in her flower garden and making floral arrangements.  She was a member of the Waynesboro Church of the Brethren, serving on the Church Board Committee, the Delphin Wright Circle, and as a Choir member.  Louise loved her church and her church families.  Louise will always be remembered for her kindness, elegant style, generosity, beautiful smile, infectious laugh, and sweet Spirit.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests consideration for and commitment to the Church of the Brethren tradition of contributing to peace and non-violence and genuine respect for the teachings of Jesus.

A Celebration of Life Memorial will be held for Louise at 11 AM,  Saturday, March 18, 2017  at the Waynesboro Church of the  Brethren .
