Jerry Carolyn Potts went home to be with her Lord and Savior on April 8, 2015 at the Shenandoah House in Fishersville. She was born on May 21, 1936, in Bluefield, West Virginia, the daughter of Thomas J. and Madeline S. Potts of Wytheville and Dublin, VA.
She is survived by one daughter – Carmen Jones and husband, Eric of Waynesboro, two grandchildren Tyler and Cydnee Jones; sister Darlene Eaves and husband, Jack of Jonesborough, TN; brother, Thomas M. Potts and wife, Joyce, of Roanoke, VA and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and three brothers, Robert D. Potts, Ronald C. Potts, and Gary C. Potts. Jerry graduated in 1954 from George Wythe High School in Wytheville. During a span of 23 years, she worked for the US Dept. of Immigration in Miami, FL, and was in the Civil Service for the US Navy and US Air Force in Washington DC, Spain and Germany.
Jerry had tremendous spirit, enjoyed traveling abroad, and cherished her family and friends. Her favorite pastimes were spending time with her grandchildren and family, reading her Bible, praying for those in need, singing in the Choir, and her cats. Her love, compassion, kindness and patience was beyond measure. Always young at heart; she genuinely loved life and freely spoke to and accepted everyone. She will be remembered for caring for others and “having never met a stranger”.
A memorial service to honor Jerry will be held at the Second Presbyterian Church where she attended at 133 N. Delphine Ave, Waynesboro, on Saturday, April 11, 2015, at 2:00 pm.
