William M. “Bill” Elmore, 83, of Stuarts Draft, VA, passed away at home on Monday evening, September 12th, 2022.
Bill was born on July 15th, 1939, in Greenbrier County, WV. He was the son of the late Bernie and Goldie (Dalton) Elmore. Bill graduated from Greenbrier High School, Ronceverte, WV, and served in the United States Army. Bill worked most of his life in the automobile business in the Waynesboro,VA, area. Bill was an avid NASCAR fan and loved being in the woods hunting deer and coyotes.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers in law: Delbert Mullins, Paul Arbaugh, and Bob Cohernour; and sister in law, Brenda Houff.
Bill married Diane Houff Elmore, who survives, on July 23rd, 1966, and recently celebrated 56 years of marriage together.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Troy H. Elmore (Christopher Barnes) of Crozet, VA, Lorie Elmore Frece (Shannon) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and
W. Shane Elmore (Amberly) of Chesterfield, VA; his pride and joy grandchildren: Sophie Frece, Reagan Elmore, Avery Frece, Kate Elmore, Sullivan Frece, and Owen Elmore;sisters: Josephine Mullins, Venecia Arbaugh, Cora Sue Linton (Coy), Linda Cohernour, and brother, John Elmore (JoAnn); brother in law, David Houff; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Bill will be buried in a private graveside service to be held at Mt. Vernon Church of the Brethren in Waynesboro, VA, on Saturday, October 1st, 2022, officiated by Pastors Jim and David Chappell.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 1st, 2022 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the Charlton and Groome Funeral Home, 619 Lifecore Drive, Fishersville, VA.
