William Lee Coles

William Lee Coles, 80, of Waynesboro, passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at Augusta Health.  He was born in Waynesboro on June 13, 1943, a son of the late Thomas Bergess and Wilhelmina Coles.

William was a member of Mount Lebanon Baptist Church where he served a Deacon. He worked as a cook at Hardees. Reading his Bible and going to church where a few of his favorite hobbies.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Richardson.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Coles; children, Tammy Washington, Harold Washington, Cleva Washington, and Glenda Washington; eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; siblings, James Gordon and Henrietta Gordon; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be conducted at 12pm on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at Mount Lebanon Baptist Church, 241 Sandy Ridge Rd. Waynesboro, Virginia 22980, with Rev. Theresa K. Woodson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
