Walter “W.C.” Ashby, 80, of Waynesboro, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 28, 2023 in Waynesboro.
W.C. was born in Augusta County on October 6, 1942 in Virginia to the late George A. Ashby and the late Anne Holtz Ashby.
W.C. retired from Brown and Root after many years of service, and was a member of the Waynesboro Moose Lodge.
W.C. was a bear and raccoon hunter, and an avid NASCAR fan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Andy Ashby and a sister, Linda Miller.
W.C. is survived by his loving wife, Gloria J. Ashby; children, Debbie Simpson and her husband, Skip and Todd Ashby; step-children, Nancy B. Lucas and Chris Brown; step-grandchildren, Brandon “Possum” Lucas and his wife, Ashley and Cory Brown and his wife, Allison; great grandchildren, Owen Lucas, Christopher Brown, Layha Brown and Ainsleigh Brown; a special niece, Emily Brown for her wonder care during his illness; special friends, Calvin Spencer, Joe Bradley, Roger Baber, Kenny Damron and Chad McCoy, and his beloved Cat “Thomas.”
A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at Augusta Memorial Park in Waynesboro.
