Steven Matthew Walker, 56, passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2025 after a long illness. He was the son of Ann and Eugene Walker of Fishersville, Virginia.
Steve was an over-the-road trucker for many years crisscrossing both the continental United States and Canada while on the job. After retirement, he moved to Florida and married the love of his life, Kelly Wills. Upon Kelly’s death, Steve moved back to Virginia to be near family.
Besides his parents, he is survived by a brother, Michael of Wilmington, Delaware; a sister, Shelly (Jeff) McClintock of Buchanan, Virginia; his favorite mother-in-law, Judy Benson of Dover, Delaware. Steve leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and relatives. Steve also collected many, many good friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Sherando Community Church, 2022 Howardsville Turnpike, Stuarts Draft, Virginia, 24477 at 11 am on Saturday, August 9, 2025 with Pastor Billy Coffey presiding. A reception will follow the service.
Please consider making a monetary donation in Steve’s memory to Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah, C/O Augusta House Foundation, P.O. Box 1000, Fishersville, Virginia 22939. The care he received was outstanding.
