Sharon Kay Dean

Sharon Kay Dean, 62, of Waynesboro, VA, departed her earthly life and entered into eternal joy on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. 

She was born on October 11, 1963, in Waynesboro, VA, daughter of Paul and Shirley Dean. She lived most of her life in Waynesboro, where she worked for 29 years at Klann, Inc. She later worked at Neuman Aluminum from 2022-2024. In her free time, she enjoyed listening to music and was an avid fan of many local bands. 

In addition to her mother, Sharon was preceded in death by a brother, Jeff Dean; a sister, Becky Dean; a niece, Shaina Welch; a grandson, Garrette Barr; former husbands and friends, Russell Fitzgerald and Mark Haines; and her last love, Darryl Via. 

In addition to her father, Sharon is survived by her son, Clayton Fitzgerald and his wife, Cassey; her son, Colt Fitzgerald; granddaughter, Morgan Fitzgerald and her mother, Mellisa Shifflett; her grandsons, Hunter Barr and Patrick Barr; granddaughter, Averie Barr; great-nephew, Zeke Welch; great-nieces, Autumn Hitt and Destiny Hitt; great-great-niece, Emily Crider; and many dearly loved cousins, friends, and coworkers. 

The family wishes to thank Hospice of the Piedmont for the wonderful care they provided, as well as Charlton and Groome Funeral Home for facilitating final arrangements. 

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 3:00 PM, at SherLynd Baptist Church, 20 Winterview Lane, Lyndhurst. Following the service, there will be a time of food and fellowship during which the family will receive visitors. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Hospice of the Piedmont and/or the ALS Association.
