Sandy Trujillo Obituary

Sandy Trujillo passed away Thursday, January 2nd at her home in Waynesboro. Sandy’s life can best be described as one of service and celebration. The majority of her 64 years were spent in the service and care of others as a nurse beginning at Waynesboro Hospital in 1976 continuing through this past year in the operating room at Augusta Health where she continued to care for others even as she herself was battling disease. Her personal life was also spent in service of others as Sandy was a constant presence and reliable support to any member of her large network for friends and family facing a challenging time. Mama Sandy was also a central figure in her social circle enjoying and hosting trips to Smith Mountain Lake, numerous tailgates (Go Hokies), TGIF dinner nights and impromptu evenings out with friends and family spent celebrating life and her loved ones. Her dedication to the care of others rewarded her with a house filled with family, friends, love and support at the time of her passing. She will live on, with her memory held closely and warmly by those surviving her including her partner in life and love Lee Quillen, her loving children Derek Robertson and Courtney Robertson Quillen, granddaughter Nylah Robertson, her mother MaryAnn Trujillo, her brother Mark Trujillo, nieces Lindsay, Kimberly, and Molly Trujillo, and nephew Jason Trujillo, great nephew Cam Trujillo as well as an expansive Quillen family including Stan, Patty, Ginna, Nick, and many others. Sandy was a very active participant in the Relay for Life program and the Waynesboro Serenity Garden for any wishing to donate in her honor. Her battle with cancer will continue beyond her death as she has pledged her body to science so that others may benefit from her battle with this disease.

A Memorial Service will be held at First Baptist Church, 301 S. Wayne Avenue, Waynesboro at 11:00 A. M., Friday, January 10, 2020.
