Sandra D. (Monroe) Hatcher

Sandra D. (Monroe) Hatcher, 68, of Fishersville died on Friday, April 14, 2023, after a nine-year battle with colon cancer. She was born in Staunton on July 25, 1954, a daughter of the late Henry and Nellie (Thompson) Monroe.

Sandra was a 1973 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School. She retired from the City of Waynesboro Finance Department after 30 years of service. After retirement, she held positions with the Virginia Department of Transportation, JMU Honors Program, and BRCC Vet Tech Program.

She is survived by her devoted daughter, Britney Hatcher of Fishersville; siblings, Sherry (Jeff) Wilson and Sidney (Alice) Monroe of Staunton; nephew, Josh (Noirin) Ellinger of Lyndhurst; longtime love George Kevin Rexrode of Brandywine, WV, and her beloved dog, Izzy.

Following a private burial, the family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Christ United Methodist Church, 1512 Churchville Ave, Staunton, VA, 24401, on Friday, April 21, 2023.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, 675 Peter Jefferson Parkway, Suite 300, Charlottesville, VA 22911.
