Samuel Ray Robb, 76, of Stuarts Draft, VA, passed away on March 29, 2024 after a graceful battle with ALS. He was born October 27, 1947 to Charles Clay Robb and Elizabeth Hinton Robb, in Spring Green, WI. After graduating from River Valley High School, he enlisted in the Navy and served from 1965-1970. Sam proudly served in the VF-11 Squadron aboard the USS Forrestal, surviving the devastating fire of 1967. After an honorable discharge, he spent his career working at the Pentagon, Wayne Data, American Safety Razor, and then President of Comtech Associates, Inc.
After marrying Celeste (Spalding), Sam became a proud father to Jennifer Robb (Staunton, VA) and Shelly Robb (Charlottesville, VA). He was an active member of Calvary United Methodist Church, the Stuarts Draft Fire Department, Waynesboro Choral Society, and Faithful Men. During his 50-year membership with Calvary United Methodist Church he served as a lay leader, Sunday school teacher, church delegate, chancel choir member, and on numerous committees.
In addition to his wife and girls, he is survived by his favorite grandson, Ashton Robb Barrett (Staunton, VA), brother and sister-in-law, Charlie and Amy Robb (Johnson Creek, WI), twin sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Bruce Baker (Stoughton, WI), brother and sister-in-law, Dwain and Suzanne Robb (Zebulon, NC), and sister and brother-in-law, Elaine and Daryl Miller (Friesland, WI). In addition, he is survived by Celeste’s siblings and spouses Patrice Davis, Janice and Dale Coffey, Phil and Sharon Spalding, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Sam also wanted to share a special thank you to Gene Kane and the late Petie Eavers.
A celebration of life service will be held at Calvary United Methodist Church at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 6, 2024. Donations in memory of Sam may be made to the Stuarts Draft Fire Department, Stuarts Draft Rescue Squad, or Calvary United Methodist Youth.
