Ronnie E. Henderson

Ronnie E. Henderson, 77, of Stuarts Draft, went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 29, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 11, 1946 in Lyndhurst to the late Willie T. Henderson and the late Elsie L. Henderson. He graduated from Wilson Memorial High School in the class of 1964. He was employed from December 1966 to February 2006 at Dominion Virginia Power then retiring on February 2006 after 39 years of service as a Lead Lineman. He was an Army Veteran serving in Vietnam from February 11, 1965 to November 15, 1966. He was a lifelong member of the National Rifle Association of America since October 1980. He was known for his outstanding achievement in serving the human need of our community with the United Way East Augusta County, Inc. from 1977 to present. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, the outdoors, local school activities, football, basketball, baseball and playing with his great grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Arthur Henderson, Robert Henderson and William Henderson; sisters, Grace Brooks and Jean Ritchie. Ronnie is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Polly G. Henderson; daughters, Sherri G. Henderson and her fiancée, Terry Bartley of Staunton, and a son, Steve R. Henderson and his wife, Amy of Stuarts Draft; grandchildren, Tyler W. Shifflett and his wife, Tasha, Kasey G. Chaplin and her husband, Michael, Tristan W. Henderson, Tate R. Henderson and his girlfriend, Ashley; step grandchildren, Tyler Smith and his wife, Allison, Blake Smith and Alexis Smith; great grandchildren, Audrey, Ryan, Cohen, Bentley and Akaydia; Brother, Jimmy Henderson and girlfriend, Rose; sister, Madeline Troxell, brothers-in-law, Tommy Waybright and his wife, Linda and Bobby Waybright; sisters-in-law, Brenda Hansbrough, Patsy Brooks and her husband, Donnie, Georgie Schages, Peggy Caricofe and her husband, Bif. The family extends a special thank you to his nephew, Jeff Henderson for conducting the service,  the family, friends and neighbors for all the cards, flowers, phone calls, the food, their visits and the love they have shown during his illness, and to his brother, Jimmy, niece, Rhonda, nephews, Jamie and Jeff and his wife, Gina, the hospice nurse, Kasie, social worker, Cindy, his aide, Cindy, Dr. Heck and the staff at Augusta Hospice of Shenandoah and the Augusta Cancer Center. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at Charlton and Groome Funeral Home of Fishersville. A graveside service will be held 11:00am on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at Augusta Memorial Park in Waynesboro. Pallbearers will be Steve Henderson, Tate Henderson, Drew Cashett, Dewayne Fields, Jesse Taylor, Eric Johnston, Tyler Shifflett and Derek Bartley.
