Ronald R. Barkley

Ronald R. Barkley, 68, of Staunton, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at Augusta Health. He was born in Texas on March 26, 1955, a son of the late Tina Barkley.

Ronald attended Jersey City State College. He retired after serving 45 years of being a mail handler with the United States Postal Service where he was a very hard worker and provider for his family. Ronald was a devoted church member of Bethel and Miracle of Faith Seventh Day Adventist Church. He greatly enjoyed long walks, bowling, playing football in his college days, and watching basketball on TV. Riding his bicycle, fishing with his children, and working on puzzles were a few of his favorite hobbies. Ronald will be remembered for his devotion and care for his family and friends.

In addition to his mother, Ronald was preceded in death by his son, Jesse Barkley.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 33 years, Evelyn Barkley; children, Jordan and Hanna Barkley; special friends: Julian Clark, Lee Johnson and family, Mr. and Mrs. Odis Murray, Joan Carpenter, and Carlos Rodriguez and his wife, Carlis, Kwami Asoamo and family; as well as his church family and extended family.

A memorial service will be held at Bethel Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 1203 Windsor Ln. Staunton, VA 24401 on  Friday, August 25, 2023 at 11am.

Memorial donations may be made in Ronald’s memory to his beloved church. Those that wish to give flower donations may be sent directly to the family’s home.

The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the doctors and nurses for their loving care of Ronald; as well as a thank you to his church family for their support during this difficult time.
