Roger Lee Harden

Roger Lee Harden, 65, of Staunton, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 17, 2023.  He was born July 16, 1958 in Staunton, the son of the late George A. Harden, Sr. and Hallie Mae Jordan Harden.

He retired as a Lieutenant Correctional Officer with Augusta Correctional Center, Craigsville, where he served from February 1, 1996 until March 31, 2010.   Roger, the “Community Mayor”, liked to go to the 7-11 and drink coffee with Linwood. He loved to detail cars and was kind and considerate to all and he dearly loved his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Alexander Harden and his sister, Dedriech D. Harden.

Left to cherish his memory is his son, Caleb R. Harden and Caleb’s mother, Loriann Tate; his sister, Delores Harden-Brown of Washington, DC; his three brothers, George A. Harden, Jr. (Nicole) of Harrisonburg, William H. Harden (Carolyn) of Waynesboro and Lloyd V. Harden (Valeria) of Evans, Georgia and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. The family offers sincere appreciation to his special friends, David Wayne Hailey and Linwood Bundy. 

 Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon, Saturday, September 23, 2023 at the Charlton and Groome Funeral Home, 619 Lifecore Dr., Fishersville, conducted by the Rev. Sheila Wallace.  Interment will follow in Oaklawn Memory Gardens, Staunton.  Active Pallbearers will be David Hailey, Linwood Bundy, William Simms, Walter Wallace, Lando Rodriguez, Justin Williams, Charles Crawford, David Carpenter and Aaron Harrell.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, September 22, 2022 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.
