Renata (Renae) Trainer Obituary

Renae’s journey here on Earth ended peacefully Sunday morning in her home in Waynesboro, Virginia, which she shared with the love of her life and best friend, Thomas “Slim” Whitman, and her great nephew, Roy VanBuren, with whom she was so very proud of and loved like a son. She adored her puppy, Belle, who kept her entertained for many years.

Renae’s life was full of great adventures. She loved to fish, pick berries, go on picnics, and search for Bigfoot. She enjoyed gardening, spending time outdoors in the sunshine, and reading her western novels and her Bible. She had a special talent for storytelling, and she could turn any event into the most entertaining experience with her witty humor and passion for life; all attributes her friends and family will miss greatly.

Renae’s greatest joys in life were her daughters, her eight beautiful grandchildren, and her great-granddaughter. She cherished every moment with her family, enjoying laughter, sharing jokes, complaining, and consistently striving to be a wonderful mother and grandmother. She especially looked forward to her birthday visits with Carrie, with whom she shared a birthday. They always made the day extraordinary.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Agnes Trainer; her older brothers, Edward “Bimbo” Bennett and John Biggs; older sisters, Janet and Jackie “Sugar” Biggs. She is survived by her loving husband, Thomas “Slim” Whitman, her children, Casey (Jeremy) Febinger, Christy (Adam) Pickering, and Carrie Martin(Jacob Spangler). Also surviving are her brothers, Joe Biggs, Melvin Trainer, and Ross Trainer and his wife and special sister-in-law, Jaime; sisters Judy Biggs, Jane Biggs (Butch), Rosey Osborne her husband, Bob, Flo Trainer (Bobby); sister-in-law, Darlene Bennett and her great nephew, Roy VanBuren. Renae had several nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends that she loved very much.

Renae would like to be remembered as a kind, loving, and truthful person who lived her life with a generous spirit and a passion for helping others.

Renae’s wishes were for a private memorial service that will be held at a later date, where her family will celebrate her life with music, laughter, and sharing special memories that will never be forgotten.

"Remember me just the way I always was..full of life and happy. That I love my family, my kids, grandkids, and my dog, Belle."
