Reeves William “Brother” Bishop, Jr. 86, of Waynesboro, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2026 at Augusta Health. He was born in Charlottesville on March 8, 1940, a son of the late Reeves William Bishop, Sr. and Ethel Mae (Madison) Bishop Wood.
Reeves worked as a painter for 35 years. He loved his and all children, and his family. His hobbies included cooking, collecting guns and knives, and cars. He also loved dogs, especially his best friend, Memphis.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Schwalenberg and nephew, William “Billy” Jones.
Survivors include his children: Reeves “Billy” Bishop of Florida, Robert “Bobby” Bishop (Wendy) of Dillwyn; Tammy Whitaker of Florida, Amy Kestner (Brian Fitzgerald) of Waynesboro, and Jason Bishop (Crystal Cutright) of Bremo Bluff; grandchildren: Robert and Patricia Bishop, Ann Bishop, Julia and Danny Drumheller, Ashley and Scott Roberts, and Joseph Kestner, Jr.; great grandchildren: Memphis Bishop, Quinn Bishop, Jaden and D’Kya Bishop, Serenity Watson, Bentley Drumheller, Holden Drumheller, and David Drumheller; great great grandchild, Oaklyn Bishop; brother, Ashby “Buck” Wood; additional family members: Betty Jean Dempsey, Sandi Wood, Joni Schwalenberg, Richard Schwalenberg, Robert Schwalenberg, and Jason Wood.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 P. M. on Saturday, April 25, 2026, in the Charlton and Groome Funeral Home Chapel, 619 Lifecore Drive, Fishersville.
Memorial contributions may be made in Reeves’s memory to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
