Raymond Watson Boyd

Raymond Watson Boyd, 81, of Stuarts Draft, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at his home with his loving family by his side.

Raymond was born on October 31, 1941 in Augusta County to the late Edgar Watson Boyd, Jr. and the late Ruby Leola (Wright) Boyd Wolfe.

He was a 1959 graduate of Wilson Memorial High School. In 1999 he retired from the State of Virginia as a Security Officer and in 2007 he retired from the  Potomac Conference of SDA as  Maintenance Director.

Raymond was a member of Waynesboro Seventh-Day Adventist Church since 1962, and he enjoyed fishing, outdoors, camping and anything where his family was involved.

Raymond unconditionally loved his wife, daughters and their spouses, grandchildren, great grandchildren and their families.

R.W.’s favorite verse was: John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not parish but have everlasting life.”

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death a sister, Carolyn (Boyd) Carter and a nephew, Robbie Boyd.

Raymond is survived by his wife of 60 years, Diana Simpson Boyd; daughters, Vickie Boyd Gilbert and her husband, Marc and Deborah Rae Miller and her husband, Marty; grandchildren, Crystal Melius and her husband, Mark, Eric Gilbert and his wife, Brendi, Martin Miller and his wife, Michaela, Morgan Kilimnik and her husband, Vadim; great grandchildren, Madison Melius, Caitlyn Melius, Arianna Gilbert, Brantley Gilbert, Liam Miller, Aaliyah Kilimink and Myla Kilimnik and a brother, Jerry Boyd and his wife, Debbie of Afton.

The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at Charlton and Groome Funeral Home in Fishersville.

A funeral service will be held 1:00pm on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 in the chapel of Charlton and Groome Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor AJ Groschel and Elder Bill Miller. Interment will follow at Augusta Memorial Park in Waynesboro.

Active Pallbearers will be Eric Gilbert, Mark Melius, Martin Miller, Vadim Kilimnik, Marty Miller, Marc Gilbert, Bobby Rada and Jerry Boyd.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Ken Lester, Neil Buckingham, Robbie Benson, Steve Smith, Darin Heavner, Barry Heavner, Petie Eavers and Guy Eavers.
