Philip Case Obituary

Philip D. Case died December 7, 2019.  Phil lived a full life, traveling worldwide with Margot B. Case, his wife of forty-five years.

In 1978, Phil and Margot were the first to import Akhal-Teke horses to America.  Phil and Margot were first introduced to the breed during their time living and traveling throughout Europe while Phil was employed in the pulp and paper industry.   In 1981, Phil and Margot moved to the Shenandoah Valley where they made their home and continued their passionate promotion of this rare breed of horse and establishing the Akhal-Teke horse association in North America.  They also enjoyed their involvement in the Middlebrook Hounds Hunt Club and hosting the annual Christmas party.

Phil and Margot continued to travel for work and pleasure with annual trips to South Africa becoming their favorite destination.  Phil continued his visits to South Africa and was looking forward to returning.   Visits to Maine for family gatherings were equally important to Phil.  Phil loved sharing his adventures with all.

Phil is survived by his four children and their extended families; his siblings and their extended families, and many friends scattered the world over.

A celebration of Phil’s life will take place next summer in Maine.
