Paula Anne Lowe

Miss Paula Anne Lowe of Staunton, VA (age 53) passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 6, 2020.  She is predeceased by her father Marion Lee Lowe and her mother Rose Riemer Lowe. She is survived by her brother Richard Lowe (Karen) and nephew Kevin Lowe and niece Michele Lowe.

Paula was born and raised in Arlington, VA. As an infant, Paula had a terrible case of pneumonia with high fever which caused traumatic injury to her brain. This caused significant developmental issues, with lifelong disabilities and impairment.

Paula was able to overcome some of her limitations and continued to learn, live and enjoy life. She attended St. Coletta’s in Arlington, VA and participated in the Special Olympics and Easter Seals Camps.  She enjoyed horseback riding, trips to the ocean, going to parks, drives on the Blue Ridge parkway, listening to country music and arts and crafts.

Paula moved to Staunton in the early 1990s with her parents. She later moved into a group home and then finally moved into a private residential setting where she lived for the past 8 years.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be directed to the Special Olympics or Easter Seals Camps. A small gathering will be held at Charlton and Groome Funeral Home on December 28, 2020 @ 1 pm.
