Michael “Shannon” Kee, 48, of Waynesboro, entered into Heaven's Gates, Saturday, February 21, 2026, at his home. He was born April 1, 1977 in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
Shannon attended Harrisonburg High School and he was a devoted member of Community Restoration Church, Harrisonburg. He was employed in security with Bridge Ministries from January 2026 until his death. During his employment he didn’t consider it a “job”, but a “calling” on his life and it was a huge part of his ministry and spiritual journey. In his final months Mr. Washington and Mr. Stamper were great influences and supporters throughout the few short months he was employed.
Shannon and his wife started a ministry called The 3:16 Way, which is now a part of Community Restoration Church. It was inspired by his passion for Christ, and to spread love and the word of God to win as many souls as possible for Jesus. He was truly a Soldier of Christ.
Shannon had a special "Light" that made him very special. He was very charismatic; people were just drawn to him, naturally. He was so likeable, and he loved with all of his being. His sense of humor always kept you laughing. Never a dull moment around him!
His family was very close to his heart. His family was his WORLD and he made sure they knew it.
Shannon would do anything for anyone, he always was there if you needed him, and he expected nothing in return.
God was ALWAYS at the center of his life; even when he wasn’t walking as closely as he was at the end of his days. He always had that relationship with God..
He loved his wife IMMENSELY, they made a lifetime of memories in the short three and a half years that they were best friends, then Married in July of 2025. His step-children were close to him, Wes and Baylee 's father preceded them in death, but they looked up to Shannon and loved him s a father figure. He had a special relationship with Jackie, he was "Shanny" to her.
He also had 2 dogs, Marley and Gracie, that he loved with his whole heart.
Pastor David and Pastor Joy Tyree were a Godsend. He and Joni started attending Community Restoration Church in April of 2025, at that time, during this time, they have been such a HUGE part of their lives, and are the stepping stone Shannon was gifted to flourish further in his faith, and eventually encouraging and supporting the ministry he started in his final months. He had bigger things he was working towards in the ministry, but God had a different path, he needed him more. But he walked thru those gates of heaven, and God greeted him with the words, "WELL DONE, MY GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT"
He loved the beach, travelling, fishing, Kayaking, hiking and being in nature.
Shannon was preceded in death by his father, Nelson J. Charlton; his mother Brenda Hottinger Allman; his step-father, Junior Kee and his stepmother, Charlotte Kee.
Survivors include his wife, Joni See-Kee; his daughter, Bre’Anna Kee and his step-daughter, Baylee A. Fleet, step-son, Wes B. Fleet and step-daughter, Jacqueline (Jackie) Kirby; his grandson who is due March 20, 2026, Brennan Fleet Stringham; his sisters, Janice Riggleman, Jackie Holman and Nichole (Niki) Charlton; his mother–in-law and father-in-law, Emily Fitzgerald and Ernest Fitzgerald; his half-brother, Shannon Beasley, half-brother, Joey A. Charlton, half-sister Samantha L. Waggy and half-brother, Tony Nelson Charlton; his nieces, Christal Charlton, Desirae Gett, Tiffany Gett and Mikayla Riggleman and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; Marcie Phares, who was more like a sister to him; Hunter Kaplinger and Shawn Minnick, who were like brothers to him.
