Michael Wilson Obituary

Michael Wilson, 75, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 13, 2020, in the comfort of his own home in Fishersville, VA, with his beloved wife of 51 years, Sharon by his side.

Michael was born October 24, 1944 in Brooklyn NY to Jesse and Catherine Wilson. He graduated from Aberdeen High School, class of 1962 and immediately joined the US Navy. After proudly serving his country for 22 years, he retired ETC E7 Chief on June 30, 1984. Upon retirement from the military, he was employed as a machine service tech until he retired in 2001 due to his health.

Michael was most recently a member of Sherlynd Baptist Church in Lyndhurst, VA where he loved his Sunday School Class; however, he had been a member of Shenandoah Heights Baptist Church for many years prior and had served the church and community in the roles of deacon, sunday school director, Glorybound motorcycle ministry, mens ministry, among others. He, along with his wife, went to Nicaragua twice on mission to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ and minister to people and communities in need.

Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Franklin Wilson and Catherine Grace Hubbard Wilson.

Michael will be greatly missed by his surviving family. He was the beloved husband to Sharon Ann Wade Wilson for 51 years. He was a loving father to his daughter Melanie Abbott and husband Matthew of Fishersville and his son Anthony (Tony) Morris and wife Amy of Waynesboro,VA. He had 7 grandchildren, Anthony (Andy) Morris, Danielle Goulden, Whitney Morris, Kori Goulden, Megan Morris, Kyle Morris, and Allyson Abbott as well as great-grand children and many nieces and nephews including 2 special nieces Tina Fisher and Sherri Nauman. Michael also leaves behind 2 loving sisters, Linda Macormic and husband Tom of Sanford, NC and Grace Anderson of Southern Pines, NC.

The family would like to thank Hospice of the Shenandoah for their love, care, and guidance during the final weeks.

The funeral service, officiated by Pastor Allen George, will be held at Sherlynd Baptist Church on Monday, May 18, 2020, at 1:00 with interment at Augusta Memorial Park. There will be a public viewing at Sherlynd Baptist Church beginning at 12:00 before the service.

The family will be receiving visitors, at the family home, in an open house style beginning at 4:00 pm Sunday, May 17, 2020 throughout the evening.
