Mary Ann Fitzgerald

Mary Ann Fitzgerald, 81, passed away peacefully at her home on January 9, 2026, in Waynesboro, VA.
Mary Ann was born on November 2, 1944, in Waynesboro, PA. She was the daughter of the late James  and Stella Serba. On February 14, 1978, she married her beloved husband, Glenn. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church where she taught religious education, preparing children for Baptism and First Communion.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Melinda Ann Fitzgerald and Tammy (Hoy) Humphreys.
Mary Ann is survived by her husband, Glenn Fitzgerald; her daughter, Christina (Hoy) Wilson (Randy); son, Tommy Hoy (fiancé, Brandi); brother, Jim Serba (Dodie);sister, Peggy Brown; grandchildren: Tyler Hoy, Brandon Hoy, David Foster, Shawn Foster, Kelsee Hoy, Ricky Wilson, Cheyenne Staples, and Ashley Wilson; great-grandchildren: Zachariah Foster, Levi Foster, Andrew Foster, Tate Hoy, Braxton Wilson, Rosalia Wilson, Ruger Staples, Colter Staples and Gunner Staples; Nephews, Gary Hildebrand, Steve Hildebrand, David Hildebrand and Darin Brown; niece, Emily Serba; mother-in-law, Lou Fitzgerald; brother-in-law, Carl Fitzgerald; sisters-in-law, Rose Fitzgerald, Anita Archer and her very special friend, Vikki Shackelford.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday January 14, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. St. John's St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with a Funeral Mass to follow at 12:30 p.m., with Father Matthias Lusembo officiating. Burial will follow at Augusta Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and nephews.
Following burial a reception will be held at the church, where family and friends are invited to gather and share memories.
The family of Mary Ann wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Garland Campbell and the staff at UVA Health Dialysis for their care and compassion over the last four years.
