Marvin Campbell Obituary

Marvin Sterling Campbell, 67, of Waynesboro, passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2025 at his daughter’s home in Crimora surrounded by his family. He was born in Waynesboro on November 13, 1957, a son of the late Marvin Rucker Campbell and Eileen Doris Cupp.

Marvin attended Waynesboro High School and worked as owner and operator of Campbell’s Masonry. He loved racing, camping, fishing, and spending time with his family and dog.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Kenny Campbell; father-in-law, Aubrey Floyd; mother-in-law, Betty Floyd, and brother-in-law, Steven Floyd.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years of marriage and 51 years together, Susan Campbell; children: Marvin Sterling Campbell, Jr. “JC”, Candi Renee Shiflett and husband, Jason, Travis Lee Campbell and wife, Lacey, and Shane Joseph Campbell and wife, Ashley; grandchildren: Cheyenne Shiflett, Jason Shiflett and wife, Danielle, Jayden Shiflett, Kyle Campbell, Tristan Campbell, Savannah Campbell, Gracie Campbell, and Tara Clopein ; great grandchildren: Laney, Nayvee, Brantley, Huntley, Annaleigh, Paisleigh, Kaeleigh, Tre, Corban, Kadence, Lovella, as well as a soon to be great grandson; siblings: Rudy Campbell and wife, Joyce of Georgia, Linda Shields and husband, Ricky of Campbell County, VA, and Chris Campbell and wife, Judy of Grottoes; sister-in-law, Ginney Campbell of Waynesboro.  Marvin also leaves behind a special nephew, Kevin Campbell; as well as a number of nieces and nephews; dear friend, Eddie Shields and his best friend/dog, Bear.

The family will have a Celebration of Life from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm, on Friday, April 25th, 2025 at John E. Painter Park. 1100 20th Street, Grottoes, VA 24441 .

The family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to Marvin’s hospice nurse, Jeanie for taking excellent care of him and also to the hospice Chaplain, Steven, for praying over Marvin in his last days.
