Margaretta "Margie" Hartley

Margaretta “Margie” Hartley, 84, of Waynesboro, VA, passed away on Friday, February 14, 2025, at Augusta Health in Fishersville, VA.  She was born on August 24, 1940, in Farmville, VA, a daughter of the late Henry Willard and Virginia Blanton Spencer.

Margie, after graduating high school, attended The College of William and Mary for two years. Until her retirement she was in Account Administration with IBM. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Waynesboro and served as a long-term volunteer for Reach to Recovery.  Playing Bridge and the piano were a few of her favorite hobbies. Margie valued her family and friends and always enjoyed spending time with them. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Betty S. Lowe.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Edmund “Buck” Hartley; sons, David L. Hartley and wife, Cathy of The Plains, VA and Steven M. Hartley and wife, Kelly of Waynesboro, VA; grandchildren, Sarah Campbell Hartley, Charles M. “Mac” Hartley and Ryan Conrath; brother, William “Bill” Spencer of Cary, NC as well as extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be conducted at 1pm on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at First Baptist Church of Waynesboro, 301 S Wayne Ave, Waynesboro, VA  22980.
