Marchetta Naomi “Chetta” Henderson, 58, of Waynesboro went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born in Covington on February 7, 1965, a daughter of Hubert Boswell Burns, III, and Elizabeth Ann (Awkard) Burns.
Chetta graduated from Waynesboro High School, class of 1983. She worked for 21 years as a Packaging Tech with McKee Foods. Chetta loved all things Betty Boop and was an avid fan of the late singer, Prince. She enjoyed eating a good meal of rare steak and potatoes. Chetta enjoyed watching horror movies, especially ones with Vampires. Shopping, reading, traveling, and doing things with her husband, children, and grandchildren were a few of her favorite hobbies.
Chetta was greeted into Heaven by her mother, Elizabeth A. Burns and her grandmothers, Alberta Reed and Elizabeth Awkard.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 36 years, David Henderson; son, Corey D. Burns; daughter, Dannielle R. Henderson; grandchildren: Kevon Goffney, Kamera Goffney, and Keyah Wells; sisters, Tonya R. Burns, Yolanda A. Burns, and Pamela M. Burns all of Richmond; nephew, Tajhrae L. Barber; nieces, Alexis J. Hite and Taraji A. Brown; in-laws, Ernest Henderson, Eleanor (Henderson) Greer, Jennifer and Rene Smith; as well as a host of other family members and friends.
A celebration of life service will be conducted at 2pm on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at Charlton and Groome Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
