Obituary

Louis Luke Lisi, 96, of Fishersville, VA, passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at The Retreat at Fishersville. He was born in Brooklyn, NY, on November 6, 1926, a son of the late Vincenzo and Marion (Sallarulo) Lisi.

Louis attended Abraham Lincoln High School in Brooklyn, NY, and The School for the Industrial Arts in Manhattan, NY, and The School for Swedish Massage. He worked as a Teletype Operator with RCA Global Communications from 1949 until when he retired in 1981.

Louis was active in community volunteering in service to the blind and with SAGE Long Island Chapter- Advocacy and service for LGBTQ and elders. He was a member of the Friendship House in New York, NY in the 1950s for interracial justice and social action, the Holy Name Society of St. Boniface RC Church, Elmont, NY in the 1960s, where he also was in the choir. Louis was also a member of the Society of the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America (SPEBSQSA) in the 1970s, and the Knights of Columbus-LaSalle Council in Brooklyn, NY from 1950s until 1969.

He enjoyed the art of photography, painting, and drawing. Louis actively sang karaoke and went camping. He was a gifted singer and guitar player.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Marie (McDonough) Lisi, whom he married in 1955 and lost in 2002 to Alzheimer’s disease; daughter, Mary Ann Lisi; and sister, Marie (Lisi) Danay.

Survivors include his children: Vincent Lisi and wife, Kimberly of Brooklyn, NY, Julian Lisi and wife, Elizabeth of Raphine, VA, Kathleen Witman and husband, Dean of Madison, WI, and Michael Lisi and wife, Antonina of Seaford, NY; grandchildren: Steve Lisi, Jessica (Lisi) Siple and husband, Matthew, Thomas Lisi, Juliana Lisi, Sarah Witman, Benjamin Witman, Michael S. Lisi, and Antonina C. Lisi ; great grandchildren: Emma, Quinn, and Declan Siple; siblings, Pat Lisi of Seaford, NY, and Ida Campagnola of Delray Beach, FL; as well as extended family and friends.

Following cremation, a memorial service and burial will take place at Pine Lawn Cemetery in Farmingdale, NY, at a later date.

The family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to the various groups: LRORRSCS-Men’s camping and Bluegrass Music Fellowship for their friendship with Louis over the years; as well as to The Retreat at Fishersville staff for their excellent care of Louis for the past four years.
