Lillian Christine (Williams) Brooks

Lillian Christine Brooks, 97, of Waynesboro, went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 11, 2023 at her home.

Lillian was born on September 26, 1925 in Kiddsville, Virginia to the late Robert Frank Williams and the late Mary Lelia (Taylor) Patterson Williams.

Lillian was a member of St. James Baptist Church in Waynesboro where she was a Deaconess. She loved cooking, working puzzles, crochet, playing spades and spending time with her family and friends.

The family extends a special thank you to Hospice of the Piedmont and the staff who took great care of Lillian, Ilona, Tova and Dianna. 

Lillian was the last surviving family member.

In addition her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, John W. Brooks, Sr.; infant daughter; son, Charles D. Brooks, Sr.; daughters-in-law, Edna B. Brooks and L. Carol Brooks and 16 siblings.

Lillian is survived by her sons, John W. Brooks, Jr. of Waynesboro and his significant other, Cindy Lamberth of Mint Springs, and Rev. Franklin O. “Sonny” Brooks of Grottoes and his wife, Stephanie; 11 grandchildren 13 great grandchildren;  two great-great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Henry Brooks and his wife, Phyllis; sisters-in-law, Ernestine Brooks, Elizabeth Webb, Carol Brooks and Mary Brooks.

Lillian is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at Charlton and Groome Funeral Home in Fishersville.

A celebration of her life will be held 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at St. James Baptist Church on Albemarle Ave. in Waynesboro.

Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Sherando.
