Lillian Roksha Obituary

LILLIAN ROKSHA

Lillian Roksha, 91, of Waynesboro, Virginia, passed away Monday, April 27, 2020, at Royal Care Assisted Living, Staunton, Virginia. She was born March 30, 1929, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, daughter of the late James and Anna Roksha.

Lil was a graduate of Harding High School in Bridgeport, Connecticut. She worked at Fairfield Hills Hospital in Newton, CT, for 25 years as a supervisor.

Her very special interest was the Special Olympics, where she volunteered for more than 20 years. She coached many athletes in bowling, bocce, swimming and skiing.

Lil and her sister Katherine moved to Virginia in 2004, where they enjoyed activities at the Senior Centers in Buena Vista and Waynesboro, as well as shopping, lunching, and caring for their beloved dog Holly.

When medical issues became difficult she was compassionately cared for by Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah at home and then at Royal Care. Her Hospice nurses, doctors and social workers were kind and caring, especially her nurse Shelby Noel who was caring for her when she passed. Mary Scott and Jill were always concerned and helpful. Rev. Paul prayed with her.

Lil received exceptional care from the staff at Royal Care, including Lori and Ginger.

Her friends at Royal Care made her feel at home and part of a special family. Her friends included Delores, Irene, Faye and Juan.

Lil will be missed by her cousins Janice Pleban, Gerald Pleban, Jim Mackey, and Sharon Smarkusz, who remembered her with cards, letters and phone calls, and by friends Pauline, Tim, Helen, Myrna, Charles, Barbara, Cindy and Alan, Marianne, Colin, Scott, Alice, Erika, Maureen and Charlie and Bev.

In addition to her parents, Lil was preceded in death by her four sisters, Antoinette, Anna, Alice and Katherine, and her brother, Alexander.

She is survived by her niece, Lynn Welch of Waynesboro, VA; her nephew, Scott Savary, Shelton, CT; her great niece Eileen Ann Faulkner and her husband, Edward Faulkner IV of Somerville, MA and their sons Edward and Arthur; and great nephew Kenneth Savary of Minneapolis and his wife Amanda.

Lil will be buried with her parents at Lakeview Cemetery in Bridgeport, CT.
