Lawrence E. Mason of Dooms, Virginia passed on Saturday, July 4, 2026 at the age of 77.
“Lonnie” was an avid outdoorsman. He loved all things outside especially hunting and fishing. He was a man who enjoyed taking a hands-on approach at life. A true-fixer of all things. He was a devoted family man whose love knew no bounds.
He was born on March 22, 1949 in Waynesboro, VA. Graduated from Wilson Memorial High School. He retired from Wayn-Tex after 35 years where he worked as a loom fixer.
Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Ethel Mason. As well as a brother, Daniel Mason.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 31 years, Linda A. Mason; brother, Richard Mason and wife, Brenda of Charlotte, NC; children: Jonathan Mason and wife, Lindsay of Churchville, Shannon Hughes and significant other, Steven Bowers of Lyndhurst, and Shane Mason of Mt. Solon.
He was blessed with 7 grandchildren: Tucker Mason and wife, Sierra, Luken Mason and fiancée, Mena, Blake Mason, Jacob Mason, Hailey Wilt, Brittany Wilt and husband, Mat, and Jeff Wilt and wife, Amy.
As well as 3 great grandchildren: Isaiah, Raiden, and Noctis.
In addition, 2 sister-in-laws, Shirley and husband, Kenny and Fawn and husband, Jerry; as well as many nieces, nephews, and a cousin.
Special thank you to the Shenandoah House for their compassionate care over his last days.
