Kay Shields Martin

Kay Shields Martin, 73, of Stuarts Draft, VA, passed peacefully on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at Shenandoah House in Fishersville, VA.

Born in Richmond, VA on September 8, 1951, Kay was the cherished daughter of the late Herbert and Retha (Havens) Shields.  She was a devoted member of the White Hill Church of the Brethren in Stuarts Draft, VA, where she found a community of faith, fellowship, and service.

Kay was a loving and devoted wife and mother, fiercely concerned for her family’s wellbeing and happiness. She adored her grandchildren and great-granddaughter and loved nothing more than being surrounded by her family and close loved ones.  

Kay is survived by her husband of 36 years, Kenny Martin of Stuarts Draft; children, Jennifer Paige Parr and husband, Dave, of Annapolis, MD, Shane Martin and wife, Kim of Staunton, and Ryan Martin of Staunton; siblings, Frank (Nida) Shields of Church Road, VA, Janet Gregory of Blackstone, VA, Jean Harris of Glen Allen, VA, and Debbie Crowe of Red Lion, PA; six grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her beloved grandson, Kaleb Ryan Martin.

A celebration of life will be held at Charlton and Groome Funeral Home in Fishersville, VA on Friday, May 9 at 12PM.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11AM until the hour of the service. 

Guests are invited to join the family for a gathering at their home after the service.  

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital are appreciated, honoring Kay’s spirit of generosity and love.
