Katherine Elizabeth Winston-Carter, 69, of Waynesboro, passed away, Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at her home. She was born February 3, 1952 in Waynesboro, daughter of the late Harry Isdore Durrette and Elizabeth Tate Brooks Durrette.
Katherine was a graduate of Waynesboro High School and attended Cheney State University in Pennsylvania. She was a member of St. James Baptist Church, enjoyed playing softball and was a Mary Kay Representative. As a homemaker she enjoyed reading, baking and spending time with her family, whom she loved very much.
The family would like to offer special appreciation to the UVA Staff (3rd Floor West and South) and to Medi Hospice of Charlottesville.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Wayne Carter; her two daughters, Litisha D. Cokley of Fairburn, Georgia and Lekisha N. Antwi of Fishersville; her two grandchildren, Treyonna C. Cokley of Fairburn, Georgia and Ikeyca A. White of Fishersville; her sister, Dorothy L. Allen Lee (Fay); her brother, Harry Isdore Durrette; her two nephews, Stephen L. Lee and Justin Lee; her aunt, Margaret Brooks Turner; her cousin, Patricia Flipping; and, her friend, Nilda Veney.
The family will receive friends from 12 Noon until 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at the Charlton and Groome Funeral Home, 619 Lifecore Drive, Fishersville.
Due to Covid-19 the family will have a private funeral service that will be conducted by The Rev. Sheldon Page, Sr.
