Judy Lynn (Balsley) Fox

Judy Lynn (Balsley) Fox, 66, of Staunton, passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Lynchburg on February 5, 1957, a daughter of the late Robert E. and Ellen (McSpadden) Balsley.

Judy was a Stuart Draft High School graduate and then went on to receive her bachelor’s degree in Community Health from James Madison University. She worked as a kindergarten teacher at Tyler Elementary School in Haymarket, VA and later became a volunteer at Hugh K. Cassell Elementary School, at Guy Stump Elementary, and at Augusta Health. Judy was a member of Stuarts Draft Baptist Church. She greatly enjoyed mentoring her grandchildren, who knew her as “MiMi”, and working with flowers.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Pam (Balsley) Beverage.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband that has been with her for 50 years and married to her for 45 years, Donald Fox; children: James Robert Fox of Richmond, Laura Fox (Robert Wheeler) of Warrenton, Thomas M. Fox of Nokesville, and A. Tyler Fox (Brittany) of Stuarts Draft; grandchildren: Beckham Fox, Olive Fox, and Rosalie Fox Wheeler; uncle, Tim Balsley (Shirlee); as well as extended family and friends.

 Following cremation, a graveside service will be conducted at 11am on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at Augusta Memorial Park with Pastor Billy Coffey officiating. Those who wish to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery.

Family will receive friends following the graveside service at their residence. 

The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah for their loving care of Judy and her family.
