In Loving Memory

Joy Ann Vail, 82, passed away on Tuesday, January 21st, 2020 in her home in Waynesboro, Virginia.  She was born on August 6th, 1937 in Alexandria, Virginia to Clarence Edwin and Ressie Hudson Austin. 

She lived in Alexandria until she married her High School Sweetheart, Robert Bruce Vail on June 16th, 1956 in Fort Monroe, Virginia.  They had four children together.  Her career was that of a devoted Military Wife traveling abroad and across the United States, a graduate Licensed Practical Nurse in Washington State, and an avid Antique Dealer throughout her life.  She was an amazing family Mother and a loving Wife. 

She lost her Husband of fifty-three years on February 13th, 2010.  She is survived by her children, Sue Ellen Woodard, Robert Hudson Vail (Molly), James Andrew Vail (Denise) all of Washington State and Michael Edwin Vail (Sonja) of Omaha, Nebraska.  She is blessed with six Grandchildren and five Great-grandchildren in Washington and Arkansas.

 Her family and friends will always remember her as the sweetest, spirited, fun loving person that she always exuded.  Her family came first and foremost and her signature expression of “Love and Hugs” summed up her life!

A Graveside Memorial will be on Monday the 27th of January at 1 p.m., in Augusta Memorial Park, 1775 Goose Creek Road, Waynesboro, conducted by Pastor Steven Lookabaugh.
