Joseph Grant Spraker, Sr., 88, of Greenwood, Virginia, passed away on Friday, June 17, 2022 at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, Virginia. He was born in Wytheville, Virginia on February 23, 1934, a son of the late Keller Umbarger and Lorena Kincer Spraker.
Joseph proudly served in the United States Army. He worked as a federal food Inspector until his retirement. Fishing and woodworking were a few of his favorite hobbies.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives: Louise Spraker, Bertie Spraker, and Debbie Spraker; brothers: Rudolph Spraker, Charles Spraker, Ralph Spraker, and Tony Spraker; sisters, Lucille Turner, Nancy Spraker, Lavern Shinault and Mary Key.
Survivors include his children, Kathryn Viglione (Tony) of Waynesboro, Virginia and Jospeh “Jay” Spraker (Tonia) of New Castle, Virginia; grandchildren, Daniel Hodge and special friend, Alice, and Wesley Spraker; great grandchildren, Emersen Hodge; siblings: Larry Spraker, Harold Spraker, and Athlyn McDaniel; as well as extended family and friends.
A private service will be held at a later date.
