John H. Eves, Jr.

John H. Eves, Jr., 82, of Stuarts Draft, Virginia, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2024 at his home. He was born August 10, 1941 in Hagerstown, Maryland, the son of the late John H. Eves, Sr. and Jane Elizabeth Eves.

John was a graduate of Lock Haven University in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania and taught High School science and biology in Wingate, Pennsylvania and Stuarts Draft and Rockbridge County, Virginia. He was Stuarts Draft High School’s first wrestling coach. He owned John’s Stereo in Staunton and was a member of the Stuarts Draft Ruritan Club. He loved to tinker around to figure things out and he was a collector and restorer of 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s Corvettes.  John truly enjoyed the hobby of model trains.

The family would like to express a special thank you to Legacy Hospice, especially Nurse Rachel and to their neighbors, especially Robin and Adam and to all the friends for their loving care.

Survivors include his wife, Joan Marie Eves; his four children, John H. Eves, III and his wife, Auri of Bentonville, Arkansas, Robert F. Eves of Bentonville, Arkansas, Christine E. Cronise, and her husband, Jeff of Troutville, Virginia and Jolie M. Eves of Afton, Virginia; eight grandchildren, Ashley, Mari, John, Andrew, Rachel, Tyler, Caleb and Tayler and three great-grandchildren, Aria, Sloan and Emma; three siblings, Richard Eves, David Eves and Margaret Eves and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions, in his name, to Calvary United Methodist Church and Legacy Hospice.

There will be no formal service at this time.  Burial will be in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania at a later date.
