John Robert Archer

John Robert Archer, 70, of Staunton, VA, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2023 at the Shenandoah House of Augusta Health in Fishersville.  He was born in Wytheville, VA, on July 24, 1953, a son of the late Robert Warren and Lila Archer.

John graduated from George Wythe High School in Wythe County, VA. He worked as a supervisor with DuPont. John worshiped with New Vision Church. Collecting Coins, watching NASCAR, and cheering on his favorite team, the Washington Redskins, were a few of his favorite hobbies.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Velma Delores “Tootie” Archer and Glenda Sue (Archer) Dobbins and brother, Donald Warren Archer.

Left to cherish his memory are his children: Melissa Schneider and husband, Matthew of Chesterfield, VA, Angela Archer of Eatonton, GA and Chelsea Miller and husband, Joey of Staunton, VA; grandchildren: Brianna Archer, Jacob Yost, Madison Yost , Noah Schneider, Kassidy Schneider, Kyra Miller, and Kaden Miller; great great-grandchildren: Aubree, Ryleigh, and Karsyn; sister, Deborah Morehead of Wytheville, VA; former wife and lifetime friend, Anita Archer; as well as extended family and friends.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2pm on Monday, October 23, 2023 at Fairview United Methodist Church Cemetery, 2288 Fairview Pkwy, Wytheville, VA, with Pastor Darrell Via officiating.

Active pallbearers will be Matthew Schneider, Joey Miller, Jacob Yost, Noah Schneider, Kaden Miller, and Jeff Whiting.

There will be no public viewing or visitation at the funeral home.

The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to Claire Meyers and Ashlie with Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah for their loving care of John and his family.
