Jeanette L. Hatcher

Jeanette L. Hatcher, 72 of Christiansburg, Va. died peacefully on January 12, 2022 with family by her side. 

Jeanette was born to Maury Richard Long, Jr. and Thelma Long on December 27, 1949. Jeanette was an avid animal lover and rescued numerous dogs and cared for stray cats in the community. Her passion was her family and animals. 

Jeanette is preceded in death by her father Maury Richard Long, Jr., brother Vernon Leo Long, and her long-time beloved horses "bob" and "patty". 

Jeanette is survived by her children, Stanley Hatcher (Sam Harris) and Kimberly Hatcher; five sisters, Cathy Hughes, Diane Graham (Jack), Renee Keister (Ronald), Laurie Dove (Terry) and Gail Long; four brothers, Jerry Long (Patty), Ronnie Long, Darrell Long, and Danny Long; her mother, Thelma Frances Long and two grandchildren Karington Burks and Mariah Burks. 

Jeanette's memory will be cherished by her family and everyone that knew her. 

Services will be private. 

The family of Jeanette Hatcher wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Meredith Spencer and staff, Dr. Christopher Heck, and the Shenandoah House at Augusta Health. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions are made in her honor to the Roanoke Valley Horse Rescue or a local animal shelter. 

The Hatcher family is in the care of Charlton and Groome Funeral Home, Fishersville.
