Janet Mae Barnes, 75, of Waynesboro, passed away at her home, Friday afternoon, March 27, 2026. She was born in Charlottesville, Virginia on January 6, 1951, daughter of the late George B. Walker, Sr. and the late Lissie F. Walker.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, George B. Walker, Jr., her son, Greg Barnes and her grandson, Chris Hale.
Survivors include her son, Dale Barnes of Waynesboro; her daughter, Pam Hale (Mike) of Waynesboro; her sisters, Theresa Hall (Jerry) of Schuyler, and Noi Walker of Aledo, Texas; her brothers, Gary Walker (Fran) of Dyke, Sam Walker (Kay) of Charlottesville, Jacob Walker (Kathy) of Palmyra and Wayne Walker (Debbie) of Waynesboro. Also surviving are her eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
We would like to thank Dale, Pam, Theresa and Ruth for all the help and support during Janet’s illness.
Janet’s heart might have failed, but her heart surely was made of gold. She is now enjoying a cup of Heavenly coffee.
The funeral service will be private.
