Our beloved Helen Loretta Henderson transitioned peaceably at her residence on July 14, 2021.
She was born on February 26, 1930, to the late Edward and Mildred Florence Darcus. In addition to her parents, Loretta was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Emmitt Henderson, Sr.
Sister Loretta leaves behind a loving family to cherish her memories, daughters, Patricia Turner of Fishersville, Sandra Tram (Art) of Richmond; a son, Emmitt L. “Buster” Henderson (Aretha) of Waynesboro; adopted daughters Cleo Johnson and Mozell Henderson; five grandchildren, Nate Henderson, Michelle Morris (Michael), Melinda Tanner (Quentin), John Turner (Alyssa), and Jamise Turner (James); five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was endearingly called Ponnie by her grandchildren who brought her so much joy.
She had a heart of gold and would help anyone or animal in need. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She had a passion for spending time with her brothers and sisters in Christ and sharing the word of God with anyone willing to listen. She was a devoted member of Mt. Marine Baptist Church.
Let us not mourn but celebrate Loretta Henderson’s life’ knowing that she is no longer in pain and that her soul is now at rest.
A special thank you to the Hospice of Piedmont and Mrs. Bunny Hearn.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, July 21 at 3:00 pm at the Mt. Marine Baptist Church, Fishersville, VA.
