Gregory Lamore Washington

Gregory Lamore Washington, 72, of Waynesboro, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at The Laurels of Charlottesville in Charlottesville, Va. He was born on December 25, 1949, in Augusta County, Virginia to the late Helen Washington Henderson.

Gregory attended Central Augusta High School of Staunton, Va. He served in the United States Army from November 1972 to October 1978. He retired from E. I. DuPont after 30 years of service. He was a member of Christ Tabernacle Church of God in Christ, of Waynesboro, Va. He enjoyed watching racing, football and basketball.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Christine Lawler, and Kay Hagler.

Those left to cherish and celebrate his memory are: one son , Gerard Washington (Rhukia) of Manassas, Va.; three daughters, Nykeia Washington (Delanta), Victoria Washington of Charlottesville, Va., and Shayla Jackson Womble (Carlyle) of Waynesboro, Va;  seven sisters, Connie Vest (Roy), Vivian Howard, Katherine Lowe of Waynesboro, Va. Faye Simmons, Lucy Cosby (Anthony) of Fayetteville, NC and Minnie Henderson of Philadelphia, Pa;  one brother, Garfield Henderson of Seattle, WA; five grandchildren: Isaiah Washington, Jaikeira Washington, Nakeira Washington, Zhari Grace Washington, and Lalia; three living aunts, Martha Williams, Mary Lewis, and Henrietta Blair; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

 A funeral service will be conducted at 12pm on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Oak Grove Baptist Restoration Ministries, 223 Oak Grove Church Rd, Waynesboro, VA 22980  with Bishop Theodore Payne, as Officiant and Bishop Clyde Brown, Jr., as Eulogist.

Burial with military honors will follow at Augusta Memorial Park.  Active Pallbearers will be Thornton Miller, Roscoe Rose, Charles Howard, Tommy Miller, Charlie Haynes and Shamir McDonald.  

The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church.
