Gloria Dale (Desper) Hewitt

Gloria Dale Hewitt, 71, of Waynesboro, passed away Thursday, December 9, 2021 at her home.  She was born December 26, 1949 in Staunton, the daughter of the late William Randolph Desper and Edith Bell Mason Desper.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by four sisters, Brenda Kay Engebreston, Mathilda Rose Strickler, Judy E. Wood and her nephew, Timothy Maddox.

She is survived by her daughter, Connie Jane Hewitt of Waynesboro; two grandchildren, Richard Wayne Marsh, Jr. and Shiann Nichole Hewitt; two great-grandchildren, Kai Lee Johnson and Mason Gray Smith, who is due in February 2022; her sister, Alice Bagby; seven nieces and five nephews; a special friend, Mike Dudley and Valdez Daniels; several cousins and special dog, “Batman”.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, December 13, 2021 in Riverview Cemetery, 420 Rosser Avenue, Waynesboro conducted by Pastor Doug Brooks, Sr.  Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery for the service.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Heartland Hospice Nurses, Sam, Cindy and Sherrie, to the Bath Aide and the Chaplain. Also Augusta Nursing and Rehab, John Stablus.
