Gloria Jean (Brown) Ashby, 80, of Waynesboro, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 2, 2024 at Augusta Health in Fishersville. She was born in Waynesboro on February 3, 1944, a daughter of the late Emil Anthony and Hazel Margaret (Craft) Brown.
Gloria worked up until her passing as a cafeteria lady at Stewart Middle School. She was strong in her faith and attended St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Gloria was a member of the Waynesboro Moose Lodge. In her spare time she greatly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and her friends “The Flying Nuns”, going shopping on Saturday, especially at Wal-Mart, and traveling.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Cleveland Ashby; siblings, Tony, Teresa, and Butch; and her nephew, Timmy Wayne.
Survivors include her children: Chris Brown, Nancy Lucas, Todd Ashby, and Debbie Simpson; grandsons, Brandon Lucas (Ashley) and Cory Brown (Allie), great grandchildren: Christopher, Layla, Owen, Ainsleigh, and Hazel; siblings, Paula Lowry (Joey), Timmy Brown (Alice); sister-in-law, Doris Brown; special aunt and fellow member of “ The Flying Nuns”, Bobbie Wright; great niece, Izabella Hudson; as well as extended family.
Gloria had made a lot of dear friends in her life and she treasured her friendships with them.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 301 Sheppard Ct, Waynesboro with Rev. Francis Xavier Musolooza, V.F., Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Augusta Memorial Park.
There will be no formal visitation or viewing at the funeral home.

Also a special thank you to family, friends, and “Mafia Girls” for their thoughts and prayers.
