Obituary
George James Carney, 94, of Waynesboro passed away on Monday, May 9, 2022 at his residence.
George was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Henrietta Carney; son, Ralph Carney; twin sister, Virginia Gould; sister, Patricia Carney; and brother, Norman Carney. George was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Geri Carney; daughter, Carolyn Carney Herring; daughter-in-law, Lourdes Carney; grandchildren: Scott and Amelia Herring and Trisha and Jimmy Carney; niece, Susan Rehe and husband, Gregory; as well as extended family and friends.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2pm on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Charlton and Groome Funeral Home with The Reverend A.J. Heine, Rector of Trinity Episcopal Church, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in George’s memory to the Augusta Health Foundation c/o Hospice of the Shenandoah, P.O. Box 1000, Fishersville, VA 22939.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff with Hospice of the Shenandoah, Dr. Christopher Heck, and nurse, Amy Eye and his family doctor, Dr. Frank Johnson, for their loving care of George and his family.
