Eva Lavonne Stephenson

Eva Lavonne Stephenson, 64, of Verona, passed away at her home on May 24, 2022. She was born on Wednesday, October 23, 1957 in Augusta County, the daughter of Fred A. Stephenson Sr. and Ruby C. Pulliam.

She graduated from the Virginia’s Lawyers Association at ODU in Norfolk and from the University of Richmond Law School. She won first place in the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association Competition in 1993. Eva worked as a prosecuting attorney for the State of West Virginia. She was an avid horse lover and collector of fine clothes and jewelry. Eva was of the Methodist faith.

Eva was preceded in death by her father, Fred A. Stephenson; step-mother, Carmellita Stephenson; sister, Sherri Higgins; brother, Jeffery Blackley; grandparents, Gratton and Margie Cale; niece, Rebecca Stephenson.

She is survived by her mother, Ruby Pulliam; brothers, Fred Stephenson Jr. and his wife, Suzanna, Anthony Stephenson and Chris Pulliam; sisters, Janice Hall and Janet Stephenson; as well as her horse Sierra and faithful dog Teddy Bear.

A funeral service will be conducted at 12pm on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at Calvary Assembly of God, 1516 Spring Hill Rd, Staunton, VA 24401, conducted by Pastor Kevin Persinger and Pastor David Whitesell. Interment will follow at Miller Memorial Cemetery, Craigsville. Serving as active pallbearers will be Larry Welcher, Donnie Carper, Jeff Price and Stephen Smiley .

The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church.
