Elizabeth "Betty" Lachnicht Obituary

On Monday, July 5 2021, Elizabeth “Betty” Lachnicht went home to be with the Lord.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Elisabeth Sagey of New York; her husbands, Joseph F Viviano and William Lachnicht, both of New York; and her nephew, Richard Sagey of California.

Betty grew up in Brooklyn, New York and was “Valedictorian” of her class at Bushwick High School.  After graduation she worked at General Electric.  Once she married, she moved to Long Island with her husband and started a family.  She was a “stay at home” Mom till her children were grown.  She then worked in accounting at Carnagie Fabrics.  Long into retirement, Betty moved to Virginia.  She was a faithful member of Fishersville United Methodist Church.

Betty cherished time with her family and friends.  When she was feeling her best, she lived life to the fullest- whether that was dining out at her favorite restaurants or having home cooked dinners with loved ones.  Betty also enjoyed watching her Yankee’s Baseball games, music, shopping, late night pizza parties, spending time with her grand pups, and of course being pampered at the Beauty Parlor.

She is survived by her brother, William Sagey of California; her daughters, Donna Viviano of Fishersville, Virginia and Lisa Abrams and her husband Marty of New York; her grand children, Jodi Lynn Maloney and her husband, Kevin of New York, Joseph V. Abrams and his wife, Stephanie of New York, Joey DiGorga and his girlfriend, Savannah Altizer of Fishersville, Virginia; a nephew, Robert Sagey, and niece, Diane Sagey of California; stepson, Billy Lachnicht, his wife, Jacqueline, and their daughter, Alexandra of New York; stepdaughter, Georgie Taber and her husband, James of Virginia; stepdaughter, Danielle Omar and her husband, Hany, their daughter, Norah of Virginia, and her close friends, Tammy and Ray Wade of Virginia, and Barbara King of Virginia.

Betty will be dearly missed by many more relatives and friends.

A “Celebration of Life” will be held in New York on August 21, 2021.
